Betty Lou Geick, 84, of Guttenberg, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Monday, Oct. 3, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Memorial services were Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, conducted by Carl Borrett.

Betty was born on Jan. 10, 1932, in Luana, the daughter of Louis and Roma (Bittner) Heins.

Betty received her education from the local country school near Luana. On May 17, 1949, Betty was married to Henry Geick at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg and the two were later blessed with seven children. Betty enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, listening to polka music, bingo and riding on the back of the Harley with Henry. She was a faithful volunteer for both Ladies Aid at St. John’s and the Guttenberg Meal Site. Betty was also a gifted gardener, took great pride in her flowers and enjoyed canning produce along with Henry. 

Betty is survived by her husband of 67 years, Henry; children, Joan (Juan) Cortes, Nancy (Keith) Welse, Bonnie Sue Gibson, Connie Onken, Rose Embree, Judy (Jeff Portwine) Geick and Gary (Lisa) Geick; grandchildren, Terry (Susanna) Gibson, Teresa Gibson, Christina Onken, Allison (Matt) Miron, Alexander Embree, Dana Geick, Wyatt Geick, Jay Geick, Martyn Geick and Bryce Geick; six great-grandchildren; Rascal the cat; siblings, Hazel Anderegg, LaVonne (Glen) Mueller, Shirley Sutton, Rose Marie (Richard) Duwe and Gerene (William) Morarend; brother-in-law, Leo McNally and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Cyril Heins; sisters, Birdena (Elmo) Behrend, Violet McNally, Ida Mae (Francis) Behrend, Roma (Freddie) Lahrs and brothers-in-law, Harold Anderegg and Bill Sutton.
