Kickapoo Invitational
The Prairie du Chien cross country team traveled to Kickapoo High School on Thursday for the Kickapoo/LaFarge Invitational. The girls’ team ran incredibly well against the 6 other schools and came home with a first-place trophy. The girls took four of the top 5 spots to win the meet with just 20 points, 15 points ahead of Richland Center/Ithaca.
Prairie had a nice controlled start, but by the first mile, Amber Huser and Ella Hein had pulled well away from the pack. They ran together for much of the race with Ella placing just ahead for Amber for first.
Karly Jaynes and Faith Dillman also supported each other through much of the race with very strong finishes in fourth and fifth, respectively. PdC’s final varsity place scorer was Maddie LaRocque finishing fifth for the team.
“I am super proud of the girls! They ran well together and it paid off. I’m not only happy with the way they ran, but with the way they conducted themselves at the meet. At almost every meet, I have a runner from another team come up to me to tell me how nice the PdC girls are during and after the race,” said Coach Kathleen Hein.
Unfortunately, the PdC boys did not have enough runners for a team.
