Gene Leslie Patrick, 90, of Guttenberg, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.

Visitation was Sunday, Aug. 28, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 29, at the Gospel Hall, Garnavillo.

Interment was at St. John's Cemetery, Guttenberg.

Gene was born on Oct. 30, 1925, the son of Leslie and Bertha (Hyde) Patrick in rural Osterdock.

Gene grew up in the Osterdock area where he worked on the farm. Gene was saved on Dec. 6, 1942, baptized in Clayton and received into fellowship with the Garnavillo Assembly. On Nov. 18, 1947, Gene was united in marriage with Vera Minger. On Jan. 13, 1954, Gene enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent 18 months in Korea. While in the service, Gene received his GED along with an honorable discharge on Nov. 22, 1955. After returning home, Gene worked for John Deere in Dubuque for 27 years and retired on Sept. 1, 1987. 

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Peggy Minger and Opal Dean; nieces and nephews, Denny (Tami) Dean, Doug (Dawn) Dean, Barbara Dean, Elizabeth Dean, Jane (Bryce) Kreager, Bill (Sandra) Moser, and Susan (Steven) Rausch; and many great-nieces, nephews and friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister and brother-in-law, Fern and Charles Moser and brother-in-law, Alton "Jack" Minger.
