Viola L. Luetke, 89, of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, July 17, at the Vernon Memorial Hospital, in Viroqua.

She was born Oct. 5, 1926 in Santa Anna, Texas. The daughter of Richard and Cora (Younts) Earnhardt, she married Robert E. Luedtke on Aug. 18,1942. She worked for 32 years at, and retired from, Beall’s Department Store. Viola loved people. Her kind, warm heart was felt by anyone who met her. She was a true southern sweetheart, and was loved so much by her family and friends.

Viola is survived by her daughter Judy (Robert E.) Lee of Prairie du Chien; her sister Geneva Magnum of Temple Texas; six grandchildren Andrew (Melissa) Banasik, Wendy (Randy Martin) Banasik, Sarah (David) Stanfield, Jennifer (Eric) Hinojosa, Ryan Luedtke, Aaron ( Tamsen) Luedtke; and thirteen great-grandchildren Taylor Fulton, Morgan Banasik McKenzie Banasik, Nathan Banasik, Macey Banasik, Sydney Stanfield, Jasmine Stanfield, Austin Hinojosa, Matthew Hinojosa, Abigail Hinojosa, Mason Hinojosa, Asher Luedtke and Zack Luedtke.

Viola is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert on Oct. 21, 1999; a son Robert William Luedtke on Jan. 17, 2005; three brothers William Earnhardt, Patrick Earnhardt Jr. and Ira Earnhardt and one sister Faye Corsey.

A Celebration of Life for Viola is tentatively set for July 29, 2016, for family and friends at the Houston National Cemetery in Texas.
