Burnell Martin Kahle, 69, of Manchester, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.

Visitation was Sunday, April 17, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester and before services at the church.

Funeral services were Monday, April 18, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester.

Burial was at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.

Burnell was born on April 8, 1947, in Guttenberg, the son of Burnell Sr. and Edith (Eilers) Kahle. He was raised and educated in the Guttenberg area. 

On May 17, 1969, Burnell was united in marriage to Mary Lee Gudenkauf at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Three children were born to this union. The family lived in Manchester. Burnell worked at Ertl's in Dyersville for 42 years and retired in 2006. 

Burnell enjoyed playing softball, camping, and bowling. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Twins, and Minnesota Vikings fan. Burnell was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mary Lee Kahle of Manchester; his three children, David of Edgewood, Lisa (Terry) Clemen of Dyersville, and Sandy (Larry) Holtz of Coggon; four grandchildren, Lexi and Maci Clemen, Lindsey and Carter Holtz; his six siblings, Karen (Jerry) Seavy of Cedar Rapids, Henry (Maxine) of Turlock, Calif., Dorothy (Larry) Moser of Colesburg, Carol (Neil Morarend) Moser of Guttenberg, LuAnn (Jon McEldery) Kahle of Logan, and John (Tammy) of Guttenberg; a brother-in-law, Bob Moser of Cedar Rapids; and a sister-in-law, Marcia (Kenny) Hoeger of Manchester.

Burnell was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Verla Moser.
