Alvin G. Tollefson, 93, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 9. 

He was born Feb. 14, 1922 in rural Gays Mills, the son of George and Floella Heal Tollefson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien and was a current member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. He graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1939. On Dec. 28, 1941 he married Grace Tebo. After serving in World War II, the former Lt. Tollefson began his career with the Wisconsin Industrial Commission and Unemployment Compensation Division where he worked for 27 years from Appleton to Lancaster to Green Bay. He then became the district director of job service in Fond du Lac. He retired in 1985 after 40 years and receiving the Governor’s Special Award and the Kaisler Public Service Award. He was an active member of the Noon Rotary Club for over 54 years and special representative and cofounder of the Morning Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Grace; his daughter, Pamela Tollefson of Milwaukee; two sisters, Joyce Boldt and Maxine Uher both of La Crosse; two grandchildren, Lynn Castrodale Drewicz of Waukesha, and Mark Castrodale of Oregon, Wis.; and a great-grandson, Max Castrodale of Oregon, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Thomas G. Tollefson. 

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Rotary International Polio Plus Fund. Additional information and guest book may be found at www.ueckerwitt.com.
