River Ridge High School will celebrate homecoming Sept. 14-18. The theme this year is “Around the World” and the football game is against Potosi Friday at 7 p.m.
Wednesday will begin the week of activities with a night of family fun and entertainment at the high school. A color run held on the Fitness Trail will be from 6 to 7 p.m. During the run, there will be food provided by the Safe and Stable Family Grant. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy a sandwich and soup. Also on Wednesday evening are the skits, lip syncing, and coronation in the high school gym at 7:30. The coronation will immediately follow the introductory music and school song by the band, under the direction of Mr. Lasko.
Homecoming court members are: freshman representatives, Olivia Loper, daughter of Trevis and Karen Loper, escorted by Colton Clark, son of Bruce and Tania Clark; sophomore representatives, Emma Hampton, daughter of Dawn Drew and Roger Hampton, escorted by Tyler Lansing, son of Tricia and Jeremy Lansing; junior representatives Darion Brooks, daughter of Pat and Renee Brooks, escorted by Amiel Guerrero, son of Tim and Arleen Dissmore. The escort for the senior representative will be Erik Santos, son of Ubaldo and Maribel Santos. The homecoming king will be Dylan Hazen, son of John Hazen and Shawna Atterbury. Ladies representing the senior class are Bridgette Myers, daughter of and Conrad and Wendy Myers, and Anna Bosetti daughter of Nanci Lara Jimenez and Angelo Lorenzo Bosetti; host parents Allen and Barbara Stagman. The young lady receiving the most votes in a school election held Wednesday will be the queen. The results will be kept secret until coronation.
Thursday evening will include a parade in Bloomington, beginning at the Village Park and heading north. Any business or organization interested in entering the parade is asked to be at the park at 5:30 p.m. After the parade, a powderpuff football game and fireworks will take place at the football field in Bloomington. River Ridge Active Parents is sponsoring the fireworks show. NHS will hold concessions that evening.
Friday afternoon, the high school will hold an activity day for students. The sports boosters will hold concessions at the football game that evening and the senior class will hold a dance afterward. Friday will also be Purple Day. Students and staff are asked to wear purple to show their homecoming spirit.
The Timberwolves Spirit Award Plaque will be awarded during halftime of the homecoming game to the class that has accumulated the most points from the banner, lip sync, skit, float building, and Purple Day competitions. Members of the homecoming court will be recognized and the dance team and River Ridge band will also perform at halftime.
