Jared J. Winkers, 17, of Cassville, passed away Monday, July 20, at his home due to an accidental shooting. 

He was born on Aug. 4, 1997, in Lancaster, the son of Kelly and Kit (Kelley) Winkers. Jared graduated from Cassville High School in May 2015 and was attending Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore working towards a welding certificate and CNC Setup/Operation certification. He had a passion for guns and cars and loved hunting, playing his guitar and his Xbox.

Survivors include his parents, Kelly and Kit Winkers; his siblings, Jacob (friend Cortney) Woodford; Jamie (Jen) Woodford; Jessica (Nick) Hansel; his nephew and niece Taylor Woodford and Destiny Hansel; his aunts and uncles Megan (Brad) Kelley, Jessica (Luke) Steger, Karen (Doug) Derks, Kent Winkers, Kevin Haas; his paternal grandparents Robert and Marlene Winkers; his maternal grandparents; Don and Janet Kelley; his girlfriend, Brooke Ploessl; his dog, Poopy; many cousins, other relatives and friends.

Jared was preceded in death by his great-grandparents.

Family and friends may call on Monday, July 27, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Cassville High School Gymnasium in Cassville. Family and friends are invited to share memories of Jared on Monday at 8 p.m. at the gymnasium. Burial will be at a later date. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cassville is assisting the family.
