Robert H. “Tunney” Lincoln, 88, of Edgewood, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home. 

Visitation was Sunday, July 19, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood and one hour before services at the church on Monday.

Funeral services were Monday, July 20, at the Colesburg United Methodist Church in Colesburg, conducted by Pastor Joan Thomas.

Interment was at Zion Cemetery, Colesburg.

Tunney was born on Sept. 25, 1926, near Oelwein, the son of Harry and Elsie (Kraft) Lincoln. He graduated from Stanley High School in 1944. After graduation, he started farming with his dad in rural Strawberry Point.

On Feb. 14, 1948, Tunney was united in marriage to Wilma Schenke at the Zion Methodist Church near Colesburg. Five children were born to this union. In 1951 the family moved to the Woeste farm near Colesburg. In March 1954 they bought their farm northeast of Colesburg and lived there for 25 years. In August 1979 they moved to Colesburg. In 2013 the couple moved to Lincolnwood Assisted Living in Edgewood.

Tunney never knew a stranger. He will always be remembered for the twinkle in his eye and his sense of humor. He was a faithful member of the Colesburg United Methodist Church. Tunney liked to restore old tractors and enjoyed making woodworking projects for his grandchildren. He attended many of his grandchildren’s sporting events. Tunney liked fishing and camping. 

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Wilma; his five children, Steven (Suzie) Lincoln of Anamosa, Kathy (Marshall) Wilson of Charles City, Jill Sanders of Bondurant, Jeffrey (Coleen) Lincoln of Greeley, and Jody (Jeff) Keleher of Marion; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; his sister, Verla Sperry of Oelwein; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Tunney was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, John Sanders; a daughter-in-law, Kelly (Wittich) Lincoln; three grandchildren, Jeremy Wilson, Scott Lincoln, and Andrea Lundberg; one brother, Charles Lincoln; and four sisters, Arlene Gerdes, Evaline Niehaus, Avis Higgins, and Donna Lincoln.
