The annual Great River Car Show and Cruise, put on by the McGregor Achievement Club, was held Saturday, July 18, in McGregor. The annual Great River Car Show and Cruise, put on by the McGregor Achievement Club, was held July 18 in McGregor. The event had a total of 54 car show entrants.

The Marquette mayor’s choice, selected by Norma Mason, was a 1965 GTO entered by Lanny Kuhse of Garnavillo. The McGregor mayor’s choice, selected by Janet Hallberg for Harold Brooks, was a 1960 Austin Healey entered by Mike Borwig of Swisher.

The People’s Choice Award, which was selected by the public, went to a 1956 Chevy 150 Wagon entered by Robert (Chopper) Thornton of McGregor.

The raffle grand prize award of a two-night stay at The Natural Gait went to Darci Jones. First Prize—a one-night grand master suite stay at the Americ Inn—went to Jason Schubert. Second prize—a one-night stay at Sadie’s Cabin—went to Doug Farley. Third prize—a one-night stay at Cobblestone Inn and Suites—went to Brenda Fabert.

Thirty total raffle prizes were handed out, including other prizes from Lady Luck Casino,  O’Reilly Auto Parts, Old Man River Restaurant and Brewery, Riverview Inn, Sadie’s Sweet Shop,  McGregor Pharmacy, Maggie’s Diner, Hair Hut, Thornton Transportation, Fantastic Sam’s, Hardee’s, Brown’s Sales & Leasing, Eagles Landing Winery, Café McGregor and McGregor Achievement Club.
