Heaven opened its gates to welcome Myra M. Lang on July 5. 

She was born 94 years ago on April 20, 1921 in Wauzeka, to Leslie and Mary Hazen.  Myra grew up in Wauzeka cultivating her love for family, cooking, dancing, reading, card games, history, and all things social. 

On June 18, 1941, Myra married Charles (Chuck) Lang. They were blessed with three children and 66 years together. They spent most of their married life in Prairie du Chien, 18 winters in Florida, and later moved to Holmen. Myra had many claims-to-fame including her recipe for Napa Cabbage Salad which she shared from coast-to-coast, her Clothes Pin Cookie weekend when family gathered to bake, and the fact that she retired three times. 

Myra was preceeded in death by her husband, Chuck; one grandchild, Jennifer; her parents; and three siblings, George, Leslie Jr., and Adelene (Toots) and their spouses.

She is survived by three children, Charles Lang Jr. (Caryl), Sue Polodna (special friend David Turinski), and Alan (Kathy) Lang. Family also includes grandchildren Caryn (Michael) Bowe and their children Matthew and Julia, Christina (Eric) Bender, Aeron Polodna (Pat Rebholz) and step-grandaughter Erin, Wade (Desiree) Polodna, Anna Lang and Anthony Lang, and her brother Robert (Pat) Hazen. 

A celebration of Myra’s life will be held at Fox Hollow Apartments, 990 Linden Dr. in Holmen at 3:30 p.m., Friday, July 10. Friends and relatives may also call at Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien Saturday, July 11, from 12 p.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Prairie du Chien Museum at The Fort Crawford or New Amsterdam Presbyterian Church. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.garrity
