Four Guttenberg men were arrested and a portion of Highway 136 between New Vienna and Dyersville was temporarily closed on Wednesday, June 10, following the discovery of a mobile meth lab in their vehicle.

A traffic stop was initiated by a Dyersville Police Department officer who identified Jason Schroeder driving a vehicle at approximately 5:37 p.m. The officer confirmed with dispatch that there was a valid warrant for Schroeder for possession of methamphetamine and then followed the vehicle north on Highway 136 from city limits until back-up officers arrived.

The vehicle, occupied by Schroeder and three other men, was stopped just south of New Vienna on Highway 136. Schroeder was arrested on the outstanding warrant. During his arrest, drug paraphernalia and what was believed to be  methamphetamine were found on his person.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit indicated that narcotics were in the vehicle. Officers began a search and found items consistent with a meth lab in the vehicle. As a safety precaution, Highway 136 was shut down briefly from Floyd Road to New Vienna, and Fire and Rescue arrived on scene. When it was determined that there was no danger to the general public, the road was reopened.

Jason J. Schroeder, 40, of Guttenberg was charged for outstanding warrant, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine. Kevin F. Meder, 54, of Guttenberg was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine. Alan Billmeyer and Douglas A. Pierce, both of Guttenberg were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. According to authorities, the investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.
