Zala P. Baade

Zala Pauline (Schultz) Baade, passed away at home on April 1, 2015.
Visitation was Saturday, April 4, at Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader and one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services were Monday, April 6, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkader.
Interment was East Side Cemetery, Elkader. Casketbearers were Cole Amsden, Travis Fleming, Dillon Beach, Luke Baade, Jimmy Suarez and Matt Herman.
Zala was born Dec. 19, 1936, on a farm near Garber, the only child of Art and Edna (Kruse) Schultz.
She was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport. Zala attended country school through eighth grade and graduated from Garnavillo High School. She loved music, and learned to play the guitar, piano and accordion by ear. She never needed or read a note of music. She and her dad had a band called the Turkey River Rangers and entertained many people! Her love of music has been passed on to her family.
She met Cletus Baade in 1955, at a dance at Lakeside. They were married in 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Center. They shared 58 wonderful years of marriage working the Baade Family Farm together.
Zala loved simple pleasures, music, crocheting, gardening and spending time with family. She crocheted many blankets that are cherished by her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Cletus; their three children and spouses, Marlys (Stewart) Boysen, Daryl (Carrie) Baade, Julie (Troy) Beach; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Amy (Cole) Amsden, Trevor and Ethan, Kristy (Travis) Fleming, Sadie (Matt) Herman and Tori, Luke (Catherine) Baade and Ace, Paige (Jimmy) Baade and Logan, Dillon Beach and Haley Beach; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bushkofsky, Judy Schnurstein and Lorna (Dennis) Christeleit; step-siblings, Bev (Walter) Clauson, Una (John) Swanson, Charles Thomas, Jean Krieg; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father; brothers-in-law; sister-in-law and cousins.
