Mary A. McGrath, 90, of Prairie du Chien passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 at the Crossing Rivers Hospital. 

She was born Jan. 28, 1924 in Steuben, the daughter of Adolph and Helen “Nell” (Garvey) Ronnfeldt. She married Charles McGrath on July 9, 1955 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Eastman. He preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1990. Mary worked at National Decorated Metals in Prairie du Chien and later in a bakery when the family moved to the Sparta area. Most of all Mary enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. That may have included a small fishing trip. She was renowned for her baking of breads and pies. Mary was active at both St. Wenceslaus and St. Gabriel’s churches. 

She is survived by her children, Susan (Brian) Koresh of Eastman, Robert McGrath of Baraboo, and Helen (Thomas) Wachuta of Sparta; daughter-in-law Lisa McGrath of Brooklyn, Wis.; her sisters, Millicent Ronnfeldt and Bernadette O’Brien both of Prairie du Chien; sister-in-law Maxine Ronnfeldt of Eastman; grandchildren, Frank (Tasha) Koresh, Megan (Jason Schultz) McGrath, Charlie (Krystal Ihm) McGrath, Cliff (Andrea Morstad) McGrath, Jacob (Kari) Koresh, Teddi McGrath, Sara (Holden Stuckey) Koresh, Mary, Melissa and James Wachuta; great grandchildren, Blake, Gabriel, Amelia, Cruz and Tanner. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son Edward; an infant daughter Betty; her brothers, Frank, Bud (Margaret), Leonard (Lu), and Lawrence Ronnfeldt; along with a daughter-in-law Mary Knapp McGrath.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home where there will be a rosary service at 7 p.m.
