Bonnie Belle Cull, 91, Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at the Vernon Memorial Hospital, Viroqua. 

Bonnie was born on Feb. 24, 1923, on a farm in Grant County, near Bloomington, to John and Nina Belle (Brodt) Harris. She attended Military Ridge Country School in Patch Grove Township through the eighth grade where she won a local spelling bee competition at the state level.

Bonnie was united in marriage to Clifford Raymond Cull in Dubuque, Iowa, on March 12, 1941. Nine children were born to this union. Bonnie and Clifford moved from the farm at Irish Ridge near Mount Hope, to Prairie du Chien, in 1968. Together they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1991. Clifford later passed away on June 5, 1997. 

Bonnie enjoyed crocheting, playing euchre, gardening, making pickles, sour kraut and homemade bread. She had wonderful memories of reading stories to her children by the light of a kerosene lamp. She was a gifted seamstress taking old material and making new dresses, quilts, afghans, slippers and scarfs. Bonnie was a serious Green Bay Packers fan and loved her Packer’s blanket. She was known for her fondness towards cats and had taken in many stray cats over the years. Bonnie loved spending time with her wonderful family and will be greatly missed by the many family and friends who knew her. 

Survivors include her children, Evelyn (Elmer) Olmstead, Boscobel, Shirley (Thomas) Panka, Prairie du Chien, Mary (Cecil) Olson, Prairie du Chien, James (Mary) Cull, Prairie du Chien, Joy (Lester) Olson, Prairie du Chien, Margaret (Robert) Cauffman, Eastman, Gloria (Rick) Troester, River Falls; twenty four grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; twenty-two great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Crete Schmidt, Franklin, Gloria (Emil) Schmit, Prairie du Chien; one brother, James (Nelda) Harris, Union Grove; sisters-in-law, Donna Harris, Bagley, Mary Helen (Al) Spitz, Battle Creek, Mich. and brother-in-law, Marvin Haan, Battle Creek, Mich.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nina Harris; her husband, Clifford Cull; two sons, Raymond and Charles Cull; her siblings and their spouses, Thelma (Steve) Benkovic, June (Don) Owens, George Harris, John Dale Harris; her grandchildren, Dickey, Christie, Sheila and Charles Douglas and one great-grandchild, C.J.
