Clarence J. “Zippy” Reuter, 71, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at his home. 

 He was born on June 22, 1947, the son of Reaford and Letha (Zenz) Reuter. Zippy graduated from Lancaster High School in 1966.

Zelma L. 'Percie' Moore

Zelma L. Moore, 93, of McGregor, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. 

Zelma Louene “Percie” Moore, the daughter of Percy Roy and Zelma Marie (Huber) Freeman, was born Jan. 1, 1926 in Norwood, Ohio. She was baptized, and later confirmed on March 24, 1940, at the Congregational Church in McGregor, Iowa. She graduated from McGregor High School in 1943 and was the co-valedictorian of her class. Percie was united in marriage with Kenneth James Moore on July 13, 1946 at the Congregational Church in McGregor. Percie worked as an usher at the McGregor Theater, was a telephone operator, worked at Vick’s Grocery Store, was an office manager at Brooks-Teaser Insurance and worked at Star Milk Coolers.

Gerald L. "Jerry" Forst, 84, of Janesville, passed away at home on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019. He was born in Prairie du Chien, on May 30, 1934, the son of Leonard and Leona (Becwar) Forst.

Donald J. DesRocher

Donald J. DesRocher, 79, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa, following an extended illness.  

He was born July 4, 1939, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Filbert and Marie (DuCharme) DesRocher. He attended St. Gabriel’s Grade School and graduated from Prairie du Chien High School. Don worked for the railroad and later for GTE Electronics. 

He is survived by his brothers, Paul of Racine, and Cyril “Zeke” (Ginger) of Prairie du Chien; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. 

His parents; sisters, Dorothy Selvera, Rose Ruppert, Marge Wood; a brother, Ken; and two infant sisters preceded him in death.

Daniel J. Hawes

Daniel J. Hawes, 83, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born Oct. 26, 1935, on the family farm in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, the son of Urban and Ruth (Farley) Hawes. 

He married Kathleen Kramer on Nov. 16, 1968, at Immaculate Conception Church in Wexford, Iowa. Daniel worked in road construction before taking over the family farm near Harpers Ferry, and then later went back into road construction working for F.C. Raemisch, in Waunakee, until his retirement. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 139 and was an avid hunter. He especially enjoyed coon hunting.

Catherine S. Copsey

Catherine S. Copsey, 91, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at the Vernon Memorial Hospital. 

She was born July 14, 1927, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Kilian and Sarah (Grover) Michel. She married Milton Copsey on Jan. 22, 1958, at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. Catherine enjoyed gardening and raising small animals. 

Milton preceded her in death on July 31, 2011. 

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Althea) and Michael (Ana) Copsey, both of Prairie du Chien; her grandchildren, Dustin, Deanna, Hannah and Aiden; a great-granddaughter, Shelly; and a sister-in-law Alice Michel, of Ferryville.

Bruce W. 'Buzz' Martin

Bruce W. “Buzz” Martin, 59, of Bagley, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, due to complications from congestive heart failure.

Buzz was a lifelong resident of Bagley and a true river rat. He loved to spend lazy days fishing at Bagley Bottoms with friends and family. That love of the river eventually led him to a career as a tugboat pilot for Newt Marine Services in Dubuque, Iowa. He loved his work and the people he worked with, thinking of them as an extension of his family. Buzz was the kind of coworker you wanted to have, always going above and beyond what was asked of him. He was a man whose work ethic could be matched by few.

Buzz was a man with an unquestionable love for his family.

John W. Jambura

John Wayne Jambura passed away on Feb. 2, 2019 in Eugene, Oregon with family by his side.  

He was 87, born on June 20, 1931 in Chippewa Falls, to Earl and Florence (Strauman) Jambura.  John grew up in Prairie du Chien.  He married Phyllis Walnum in Pendleton, Oregon in 1952.  Phyllis passed in 1983 and in 2011 he married Karen Turner a special friend of 25 years.

Dallas John Valley

Dallas John Valley, 82, of Prairie du Chien, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. He conquered cancer and suffered a 10-year battle with Parkinsons.

Dallas was born July 28, 1936, the son of Carl and Mary (Koecke) Valley.

Caroline Gann Keller

Caroline Gann Keller, 72, of Lake Placid, Fla., passed away peacefully at her home on Jan. 28, 2019, with her family surrounding her. She bravely fought breast cancer in 2007, lung cancer in 2015 and most recently stage IV breast cancer. 

Carol was born Oct. 9, 1947, in Pahokee, Fla., to parents John and Annie George Gann. She grew up in Clewiston, Fla., and graduated from Clewiston High School in 1964.
