We are deeply saddened to announce that Melvin Hall, 78, of Guttenberg passed away peacefully at the Guttenberg Care Center surrounded by family on May 9, 2023.

A celebration of life will be held at the Guttenberg Country Club on July 29, from 4-7 p.m.

Mel was born to Kenneth and Evelyn Hall on May 15, 1944.

Naomi Jeanette Klinge was born on Oct. 16, 1925, to Otto and Auguste Siebrecht on the family farm south of Garnavillo. She was the youngest of three children by nearly 10 years. Her brother was Valmah and her sister was Alice. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Garnavillo.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 4, at Four Winds Farm (5735 Adams Rd., Fitchburg, WI 53575) from 1–5 p.m.

Richard L. Sampson, 88, of Colesburg, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Terrace Glen Village in Marion.

Funeral services were Wednesday, May 3, at Colesburg Methodist Church in Colesburg. Visitation was before services at the church.

Interment was at Zion Cemetery, Colesburg.

Visitation and a short service was held Friday, May. 5, at Morris Funeral Home in Guttenberg. A Busch Light Social immediately followed the visitation at the Eagles Club in Guttenberg.

Visitation was Monday, May 1, at Morris Funeral Home in Guttenberg and before services at the church.

Funeral services were Tuesday, May 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries.

Gary Allen Westhoff, 60, passed away from pancreatic cancer on April 23, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital, surrounded by his family during his last days and hours of life.

Visitation was Thursday, April 27, at Morris Funeral Home in Guttenberg and before services at the church.

Funeral services were Friday, April 28, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg.

James Eberhard, 86, of Dubuque, passed away unexpectedly on April 11, 2023, at Mercy One Medical Center, Dubuque. 

Visitation was Saturday, April 15, at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, Dubuque.

Funeral services followed the visitation with full military honors by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.

Gene Norman Ruegnitz, 95, of Garber passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at the Guttenberg Care Center. 

According to Gene’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date. A private family burial will be held at Mt. Harmony Cemetery in Elkport. 

Gene was born on April 3, 1928, on the family farm near Elkport, the son of Ransom and Alvina (Waterman) Ruegnitz.
