Martha “Maxine” (Gage) Cornilsen Klaes, 80, formerly of Guttenberg, passed away Oct. 11, 2021, at Maple Crest Care Center, Fayette.

Visitation is Oct. 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elkader, followed by funeral services.

Interment is at Lima Cemetery, Fayette.

Henry Willard Geick, 95, of Guttenberg, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at his home.

No services will be held. Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg. 

Henry was born on June 20, 1926, on the family farm near Millville, the son of William and Loretta (Troester) Geick.

John M. Flaherty

John M. Flaherty, 67, of Bonne Terre, Mo., passed away Oct. 5, 2021, at his home after a long illness.

Services were held Oct. 11, at Coplin Funeral Home of Park Hills, Mo.

John is survived by his wife, Carroll (Wright) Flaherty; son, Keith (Tamieko) Rinck; daughter, Lisa (David) McCullough; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; sisters, Joan (Gene) Eglseder, Jean (James) Gordon, Julie Meek and brother, James Flaherty.

Donald Francis Rohner, 88, of Guttenberg, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Monday, Oct. 11, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and before services at the church.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 12, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries.

Ronald Lavern Schroeder, 79, of Guttenberg, passed away on Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and before services at the church on Thursday.

Funeral services were Thursday, Oct. 7, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Gary Hatcher.

Mary Lou Krapfl, 92, of New Vienna passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at her home surrounded with love.

Visitation was Friday, Oct. 1, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville and again prior to services at the funeral home.

Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 2, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, conducted by Rev. Dennis Quint.

Judy M. Puls

Judy Margaret Puls, 66, went home to be with the Lord on September 23, 2021.  She died unexpectedly in a tragic accident.

She was born April 20, 1955, to James and Joyce Puls in Pender, Neb. Judy graduated from Des Moines Lincoln High School and the University of Northern Iowa. 

Judy had a long and distinguished career as an educator at Ft. Madison, Garnavillo, Guttenberg and Clayton Ridge schools.

Leonard A. “Lennie” Thein

Leonard A. “Lennie” Thein, 86, of Garnavillo, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, in his home.

Lennie was born June 2, 1935, in Garnavillo, the son of Arthur and Irene (Tuecke) Thein. He was a graduate of Garnavillo High School. From 1958-1961 he served as a Specialist in the United States Army Corps, with some time spent in Korea.

Myrna L. Ohl, 94, of Oelwein, died Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 15, 2021, at Grandview Health Care Center in Oelwein, where she had resided the past three weeks.

Visitation was Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and for one hour before the service at the church on Monday.

Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 20, at Christ United Presbyterian Church in Oelwein, conducted by Rev. John Kerr.

John “Jack” Thein

John “Jack” Thein, 75, of Guttenberg died on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, following a fatal motorcycle/kayak accident, through no fault of his own, near Rossville in Allamakee County.

Visitation was Sunday, Sept. 12, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Burial was in Mount Harmony Cemetery, Elkport.
