Extending a helping hand to the youth of our community is the bridge that allows our younger generation to become happy, healthy, productive adults.  

Clayton Ridge and St. Mary's Mentoring One-on-One program began in Guttenberg in March 2018. With the help of a team of dedicated individuals, this mentoring program has since taken root in our community.

A week of wicked winter weather

Northeast Iowa had been enjoying a relatively tolerable winter until the end of January, when Mother Nature unleashed snow, strong winds and record frigid cold.

Guttenberg's residential go-getters, Dorothy and Robyn Tangeman, head south each winter to their second home located in the northeast corner of Mesa in a 40-acre gated community called The Wells. 

This 55-years-and-over manufactured home retirement community offers affordable living where homeowners own the land. This is the Tangemans' 23rd year snow-birding in this community.

Chamber of Commerce elects board at annual dinner meeting

Approximately 60 people were in attendance at the annual dinner meeting of the Guttenberg Chamber of Commerce on Monday evening, Jan. 21, at Reed's Steakhouse and Grill in Guttenberg.

Following a social hour and meal, Chamber Director Mandy Ludovissy introduced current board members in attendance: Kevin Hennessey, Patty Schwarz, Dave Brown, Brandon Friedlein, Austin Finch, Dan Parker, and Sadie Hefel.

Council moves forward on food truck ordinance, tables property ordinance

The Guttenberg city council in its first meeting of the new year approved the second reading of a mobile food truck ordinance, heard resident concerns about a proposed ordinance that would address building and property maintenance, and approved renovation work on the municipal building auditorium floor.

Blume makes CR wrestling history

In Jan. 5 at the varsity wrestling invitational held at Central Community School in Elkader, Michaela Blume, a sophomore at Clayton Ridge High School, made school history.
