Central golfers defeat MFL MarMac

Jordan Helgerson posted a 55 at the April 11 meet, as Central’s lone male golfer.

Runner up Alexis Fettkether shot a 51 at last week's meet.

Myron E. Guritz Jr.

Myron Eugene Guritz Jr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the age of 66. Myron was born in Sumner on Sept. 16, 1955, to Myron Eugene and Ruth Irene (Solomon) Guritz. He attended Sumner Elementary, St. Peter Lutheran School in Westgate and graduated from North Fayette High School in 1974. In 1977, Myron married Renee Wilker and to this union he was blessed with three children, Jason, Rusty and Lacy. They would later divorce. In September 2007, Myron met Mary Wirkler at the Pocket City Pub in McGregor. They were married on Aug.

John “Jack” P.C. Heick, 89, of Elkader, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. There will be no services at this time.

Ground broken on MFL MarMac elementary addition


Ground was broken last week on MFL MarMac’s elementary remodel and addition project. The building’s west entrance is now blocked off and footings are being placed, in preparation for construction of new restrooms.
