Allen Cyril Leliefeld, 82, of Guttenberg, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Friday, May 17, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 18, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries.

Sandra J. Ryan

Sandra Jean Ryan, long-time resident of the Guttenberg area, died Easter Sunday, the 21st of April, at home with family by her side.

Born in 1936 in Strawberry Point, Sandi received a degree in medical technology. She dedicated her life to the medical profession, working as a lab technician in several hospitals. The majority of her career was spent in Guttenberg.

Local Memorial Day tribute set for Monday, May 27

Guttenberg area residents will pay tribute to veterans both living and dead at the community's annual Memorial Day parade and program on Monday, May 27.

The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Guttenberg Municipal Building, and participants are asked to be present by 9 a.m. Led by a police escort and color guard, the parade route will travel to River Park Drive, then north to the Guttenberg Area Veterans Memorial in Ingleside Park.

Visitation was Wednesday, May 8, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and one hour before service at church.

Funeral services were Thursday, May 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries.

Clayton Ridge School board okays capital project improvements

At its monthly meeting on May 8, the Clayton Ridge School board of directors approved expenditures for capital projects, heard administrative reports, and  approved contracts.

Board president John Heying led members Mike Finnegan, Christine Aulwes, Alicia Helle, Ellen Johnson, Kathy Ihde and Jason Reimer through the agenda.

Beautiful flowers, fresh vegetables, fruits and leafed-out flowering shrubs and trees are a few of the many reasons Northerners love to see the advent of spring and summer.   

This spring Doris' Highway 52 Flowers, located at 26782 Highway 52 between Guttenberg and Garnavillo, has opened its greenhouse and accompanying garden supply shop to customers. The new garden center will be open Monday - Saturday, from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Amy Jo Less

Amy Jo Less, 34, of Durango, formerly of Guttenberg, left this world with a peaceful smile on her face, Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Visitation was Sunday, May 5, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

There will be a private family service at a later date.
