Michael Earl “Mike” Sadler, 74, of Strawberry Point, passed away on Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at his residence.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 9, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point. Friends may also call one hour before Mass at the church on Friday.

Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors will be at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 10, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Strawberry Point.

Garber man dies following crash

Logan Pritchard, 21, of Garber died Monday, Dec. 30, following a one-vehicle accident in the early morning hours of Sunday, Dec. 22. 

According to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, a report was received at 2:19 a.m. of a one-vehicle rollover on Colesburg Road about 1½ miles north of Colesburg.

Jim McGuire, son of Leon and Valeria McGuire, was born Aug. 29, 1936. He grew up approximately five miles north of Guttenberg, on what is now known as the Pattison farm, on the Great River Road with his brother, Jerry, and sister, Phyllis.

Through education and community engagement, Friends of the Family seeks a future free of violence and homelessness.

Gladys LaVina (Davidson) Georgeson passed away on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at the Guttenberg Care Center in Guttenberg.

Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 21, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, Belvidere, Ill., conducted by Patrick Anderson. Visitation was before services  at the funeral home.

Burial was at Long Prairie Cemetery in Capron, Ill.

Frederick Walter Jenkins, 75, of Guttenberg, formerly of Garber, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019.

Visitation was Friday, Dec. 27, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg. 

Graveside services followed the visitation at the Monona City Cemetery.

School board hears presentation by food service representatives

The Clayton Ridge Community School board met in regular session on Dec. 12 at the high school library in Guttenberg.

President John Heying and board members Kathy Ihde, Ellen Johnson, Mike Finnegan, Alicia Helle and Jason Reimer were in  attendance.  Also present were Superintendent Shane Wahls, Principal Laura Bilden, Dean of Students Wade Marlow, Board Secretary Dave Schlueter, Iowa Virtual Academy Head of Schools Steve Hoff, Iowa State Education Association representative Kevin McDermott and eight faculty and staff members.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 3, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garnavillo.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Garnavillo with one hour of visitation prior to start of services.
