Allison Kennedy watches her birdie attempt from about 25 feet on the first green.

Allison Kennedy watches her second putt on the first green Tuesday.

Allison Kennedy played good but not quite good enough in the WIAA Sectional tournament, played at the Prairie du Chien Country Club, to move on to the State Tournament at University Ridge in Madison.

The Ladyhawk golfer stayed focused throughout her round but struggled on the front nine shooting a 59. Allison started out fast on the back nine but got into some trouble along the way. She still improved her score with a 56 for a 115 total.

Playing in her first sectional, Allison handled the pressure extremely well and kept her composure throughout the round. The sectional experience will only make her better as she continues to mature and her game gets stronger and more consistent.

Top-ranked Edgewood-Sacred Heart won the sectional championship with a team score of 351 and will move on to Madison to defend last year’s Division 2 state title. Osseo-Fairchild/Fall Creek came in second with a team score of 403.

Halls of Terror volunteers ready to have some fun

No one else is home right now! The crazy clowns and chainsaw master have yet to arrive! But this unhappy couple from the crypt has been working late nights in the lonely cedar building on Prairie du Chien’s St. Feriole Island. They stand with broken hearts and oozing guts, ready to startle, scratch and chill you to the bone at the Halls of Terror, which begins Friday. (Photo by Correne Martin)

The men behind the deranged masks and wicked makeup at the Halls of Terror haunted house in Prairie du Chien find it fun to scare people.

Many have been helping for years and—with opening night this Friday, Oct. 11—they’re preparing to strike again.

“I like to be loud, jump out, scare and chase people,” said Mike Anthony, who acts as a clown in the Halls of Terror’s quintessential clown room. “Then, I’ll run to the next room and say to the other [scarers], ‘Did you hear that?’”
