Margaret A. 'Peggy' Sorenson

Margaret A. “Peggy” Sorenson, 79, of Reeseville and previously of Prairie du Chien, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam. 

Peggy was born on Dec. 23, 1940, the daughter of George and Dorothy (Bremmer) Jeffers in Prairie du Chien.

2020 Crawford County Fair canceled

The Crawford County Fair has been canceled for 2020. The annual fair was scheduled for Aug. 27-30 in Gays Mills, but will not happen this year due to the coronavirus.

On Saturday, May 23, 2020, Juanita Efferding (Kass) Valley passed away peacefully at the Great River Care in McGregor, Iowa. She was 97 years young, having lived an active and productive life.

Decision about county fair expected by June 30

The Crawford County Fair Board met on Thursday, May 21 to discuss the COVID-19 response with the County Health Department and Emergency Management.

“We are still planning the fair but a decision whether we will host the fair will be made by June 30,” said Crawford County Fair Coordinator Laurie Cauffman. Cauffman said once the decision is made, she will send out a press release with the details.

Dairy breakfast won’t happen in Crawford County

The 2020 Crawford County Dairy Breakfast, usually set for the first Saturday in June, has been canceled due to coronavirus concerns, according to a social media announcement from the county dairy promotion committee.

The committee thanked the Alan and Melissa Manning family for stepping up to host this year, and it announced the 2021 breakfast would be tentatively held June 5.

Black Hawk bridge at Lansing to close temporarily June 5-15

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will complete a project to repair overflow bridges in the marsh area on Highway 82 on the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi River. This will require temporarily closing the Iowa 9 (Black Hawk) bridge over the Mississippi River at Lansing, Iowa, from Friday, June 5, until Monday, June 15, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
