A 29-year-old Prairie du Chien man charged with homicide had his initial appearance in Crawford County Circuit Court Wednesday, July 22 beginning at 3 p.m.

Chase M. Harville appeared via a television screen from his Crawford County Jail cell as Judge Lynn Rider read the four counts against him and the penalties if he is convicted of all counts.

There are two Democrats running for Crawford County Clerk. The race will be decided in the Aug. 11 primary election. Chief Deputy County Clerk Robin Fisher and Eastman Town Clerk Kari Lenzendorf Kronberg are vying for the position. County Clerk Janet Geisler will be retiring.

Essential worker compensation scam circulating on social media

The Crawford County Health Department is warning the public about a fake “FEMA Essential Workers Compensation” link circulating on social media. It claims that every essential worker will be compensated $1,000 for every week worked since March 1.

FEMA said these texts and emails were being shared last week.

Winona woman dies in crash, PdC man injured

On July 16, at 3:16 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a two-vehicle traffic crash on Highway 35 near Caya Road in Seneca Township.
