Alice E. Conant, 99, of Lamont died Friday morning, Nov. 20, 2020, at her home.

Private funeral services were held at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, conducted by Rev. Susan Friedrich.

Interment was at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein.

Alice Elizabeth Streicher was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Fayette County, the daughter of Frederick and Mary Anna (Handel) Streicher. She graduated from Lamont High School in 1939. On Nov. 6, 1943, she was united in marriage to Lynn Adelbert Conant at Strawberry Point. For over 30 years, Alice was a cook at EWALU Bible Camp in rural Strawberry Point, retiring at the age of 93. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dundee. Alice enjoyed bowling, gardening, oil painting, playing piano, cooking Sunday dinners and spending time with her family.

Alice is survived by her two daughters, Kay (Merlin) Bailey of Colesburg and Mary Alice (Duane) Fleming Terrell, Texas; eight grandchildren, Rick Fleming, Kim Hilsenbeck, Ann Floyd, Kristal Lindsey, David Prince, Jessica Harbaugh, Jason Bailey and Briana Bailey; 17 great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on Dec. 21, 1995; five brothers, Harry Streicher, Alfred Streicher, Raymond Streicher, Paul Streicher and Ernie Streicher; six sisters, Annie Streicher, Mae Schuchmann, Ruth Keegan, Helen Hutchison, Mabel Burrack and Mildred Cumberland; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Steicher, Bertha Streicher, Flossie Streicher, Deleva Streicher and Dorothy Streicher; and brothers-in-law, George Schuchmann, Ronald Keegan, Robert Hutchison, Edwin Burrack and Merle Cumberland.
