Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that on Nov. 9, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit was following a 2014 Ford F450 Super Duty work truck on Highway 61 in the township of Clayton in Crawford County. The truck was exceeding the speed limit and swerved multiple times, crossing both the yellow and white lines. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the truck and identified the driver as Steven Mezera, 61, Boscobel. 

Mezera displayed numerous indicators of drug impairment and was ultimately placed through field sobriety testing. K-9 Breck was utilized for an open free air sniff of the vehicle, giving a positive alert to the presence of one or more controlled substances within the vehicle. The vehicle was searched a plastic baggie was found with several grams of methamphetamine, a plastic bag with marijuana, and numerous smoking devices, each with methamphetamine residue inside. 

Mezera was arrested on suspicion of operating with a restricted controlled substance (first offense), possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana,  and possession of drug paraphernalia two counts.
