PdC School District tax rate stays the same

The Prairie du Chien School Board approved of the district budget by a vote of 5-1 during the budget hearing Monday evening at the high school. Board member Duane Rogers voted against approval of the budget as presented. Board member Tom Peterson was absent.

The total tax levy for the 2020-2021 budget is $6,150,393. The levy for the 2019-2020 budget was $5,958,203.

The tax rate for 2020-2021 will be $10.66. It has been $10.66 for the past 12 years.

The equalized valuation in the district for 2020-2021 is $576,960,024. The valuation for 2019-2020 was $558,930,868. The increase in valuation helped to allow the district to keep the tax rate at $10.66.

A tax rate of $10.66 means that the owner of a property in the district valued at $200,000 will pay $2,132 in property taxes for school purposes.

Total revenues for the school district were $14.7 million. The total expenditures were $14.3 million.
