Lorna L. Peterman, 87, of Walford, and formerly of Arlington, died Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at Colonial Manor in Amana.

Lorna Loretta Voshell was born Feb. 28, 1933, in Arlington, the daughter of Chancy Fillmore and Virginia Elizabeth (Northrop) Voshell. She received her education from the Arlington School. Lorna was united in marriage to Henry Lee Peterman on May 10, 1951, in Arlington. They farmed near Volga and then were long-time residents of Arlington. Lorna was a homemaker and provided childcare for many of the Arlington children. In April of 2011, Lorna moved to Walford and later to the Colonial Manor in Amana.

Lorna was a member of the Church of Christ in Arlington. She enjoyed bowling league, playing cards with her siblings, bingo and watching the Lawrence Welk Show, The Price Is Right and the Young and the Restless. She is also remembered by her family for all she taught them while she was gardening and cooking.

Lorna is survived by her two sons, Roland Peterman (Tim Fees) of Walford and Rodney (Christina) Peterman of Dubuque; two daughters, Roberta Dugan (Dale McConnell) of East Moline, Ill., and Rose (Dale) Meyer of Fort Atkinson; 11 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; brother, Leon Voshell of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on Sept. 25, 2004; son Robert in 2009 and his wife, Penny; eight brothers, Lawrence Voshell, Darrell Voshell, Dewayne Voshell, Lyle Voshell, Boyd Voshell, Raymond Voshell, Lester Voshell and  a brother in infancy, Delbert Voshell; and two sisters, Violet Nielsen and a sister in infancy, Maxine Voshell.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Arlington, with Pastor Laura Hudson Kittrell and Pastor Ric Gerard officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 26, and for one hour before the service on Saturday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington.

Interment will be at Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing will be required. Those in attendance are encouraged to wear a mask at the visitation and service. Relatives and friends not able to attend the service are encouraged to reach out to the family by leaving a message on the funeral home website, by mail, text or phone.
