A Bagley man was airlifted to a Madison hospital after a motorcycle crash in Wyalusing Township, June 12, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 9:30 p.m. that Friday, according to witnesses and information found in the crash investigation, it was learned that Craig Homuth, 54, was operating his 2011 Harley Davidson south on County Road P, near Willis Lane, when he failed to negotiate a left-hand corner. His motorcycle entered the gravel shoulder on the right side of the road. Homuth then lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown from the bike. The motorcycle overturned an unknown amount of times and went airborne over a fence before coming to a rest in a field approximately 75 yards from the roadway.

A motorist who was traveling behind Homuth stopped to check on his condition and call 911. Homuth was not wearing a helmet and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien and later airlifted to Madison.

The Bagley Fire Department and first responders, West Grant EMS, and B&M Towing assisted at the scene. Homuth is tentatively being cited for failure to keep a vehicle under control. The crash remains under investigation.
