Paula Shedivy’s Digital Media Class at Prairie du Chien High School has been doing several projects this semester, one of which is helping some of their fellow students of the Class of 2020.

This semester’s nine students have been creating graphics for the past several weeks to recognize senior athletes whose sports have been postponed or canceled this spring season due to the coronavirus. The graphics involve photos of the athletes, along with descriptions of the sports each athlete participated in and the winning characteristics of each athlete as a competitor and teammate.

The graphics are being sent out through email as well as on the Prairie du Chien Facebook page, Twitter@Athleticspdc, and Instagram: pdc_athletics. They are also published each week in the Courier Press. Examples are in today’s sports section.

In addition to the graphics recognizing senior spring sports athletes, the class has also been working on projects that promote several events at Prairie du Chien High School.

“We have been doing a variety of projects,” said Shedivy. “We do a lot of projects for the new video board in the field house and also promoting activities at the high school. We did a project for Teacher Appreciation Week and the students are finishing up with end-of-the-year videos for winter sports along with doing a few things for class night.”

Other projects that have helped promote school events include Student of the Month, sports, musicals, concerts, and videos for the sponsors that were played before events in the field house this school year.

Shedivy said the digital media class can lead to a variety of career opportunities including in the areas of design, computers, marketing, photography, video editing and more.

“It’s great to see the students excited about the projects that they are making to promote what is going on at the school,” said Shedivy.
