Craig A. Ruegnitz
Craig Alan Ruegnitz, 64, of Elkport, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020, at home surrounded by his family.
Due to the COVID-19 concerns, there will be a private family service and interment. Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.
Craig was born on Aug. 24, 1955, in Edgewood, the son of Gene and Jean (Tinkey) Ruegnitz.
Craig attended and graduated from Elkader High School with the class of 1973. He worked for Trademark Homes and spent 39 years working for Clayton County Secondary Roads until his retirement in 2018. On June 18, 1977, Craig was united in marriage to Carla Rodenberg at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg and later the couple were blessed with two children, Chad and Christa. Craig was a member of the Garber City Council, Garber Fire Department; Jaycees, served on the Elkport Immanuel Church Council and served as sexton for the Immanuel Cemetery. Craig played softball for teams in Garber, Littleport and Guttenberg. He was an avid duck, deer and turkey hunter along with fishing in his spare time. The Great Ole Mississippi was a favorite place to spend time with family and friends especially being “The Captain of his Ship.”
Craig will be forever loved and cherished by his wife of 42 years, Carla; children, Chad (Kelly) Ruegnitz & Christa (Ryan) Mohr; four grandchildren, Ashton Fangman, Carson Ruegnitz, Maliyah Mohr and Jameson Mohr; parents, Gene and Jean Ruegnitz; sister, Diane (David) Domeyer; brother-in-law, Bruce Rodenberg; in-laws, Ed (LaVonne) Rodenberg and many other relatives and friends.
Craig was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents; cousin, Alex Ruegnitz and sister-in-law, Debra Rodenberg.
