James A. Hughes, 76, of Ferryville, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at his home in Ferryville. 

He was born Nov. 13, 1943, in Kenosha, the son of Robert and Ella (Peterson) Hughes. He worked as a machinist for many years and later married Judith Eppler in 1963 in Racine. James was a proud member of the Tractor Association in Ferryville and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Ferryville area. 

He is survived by his wife, Judith; his sons, Jeffery (Crystal) Hughes and James Hughes; his daughters, Joyce (Tim) Boss and Jeanette Hughes; and his sisters, Shirley Gosslen, Lois Hughes and Carrol Freeman.  

He was preceded in death by his parents.

According to James’ wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. The Garrity Funeral Home, of Prairie du Chien, is assisting the family.
