Arletta Darlene Hankes, 89, of Dingesville, died Friday, April 10, 2020, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.

Private family services and interment was held Monday, April 13, at Bethel Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg. 

Arletta was born Nov. 4, 1930, to John Wesley and Maude (Monroe) Welsh at their home in Graham. She was one of seven children. 

On Sept. 2, 1948, Arletta was united in marriage with James Hankes and their marriage blessed them with six children. When she was able, Arletta enjoyed doing yard work at her home, going to Bingo, and visiting with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In her downtime, she could always be found watching Westerns, Wheel of Fortune, or Days Of Our Lives and doing word searches.

Arletta will be forever loved and cherished by her six children, James (Jane Thein) Hankes Jr, Roxy (Leonard) Knockel, Julie (Jim) Trappe, Brenda (Dennis) Fassbinder, Mark (Dawn) Hankes, and Lisa (Tom) Weddel; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Peg Bangs; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Arletta was honored to have a bonus son and daughter Ed Van Lennep and Judy (Doerr) Greve.

Arletta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Vanita (Welsh) Hines and Beverly (Welsh) Helm; three brothers, Gerald Welsh, Leland Welsh, and Bill Welsh. 

In lieu of any style of sympathy, the family request memorials to benefit The Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, Bethel Cemetery, or a charity of your choice.
