Opening of campgrounds postponed
As the local health officer for Crawford County, Cindy Riniker has utilized her authority to act reasonably for the prevention and suppression of disease, including forbidding public gatherings when necessary to control epidemics.
“With the current pandemic relating to novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), now is the time to assure that these actions are taken to reduce the spread of this virus in our county,” she said.
Therefore, she ordered the closure of campgrounds due to the fact that such activity:
•Draws people from outside of the county to be in Crawford County (increasing population).
•Encourages non-essential travel.
•Increases shopping at local stores in the county for supplies and groceries.
•Allows for congregating of groups greater than 10.
•Reduces the ability to properly socially distance, especially in communal locations in campgrounds (e.g.: bathrooms)
This health order will remain in effect until the Crawford County Emergency Order is ended and as long as the Wisconsin Governor’s Safer at Home order is in effect (including any extensions of the current emergency order #12).
