On April 16, there will be a Come for Supper at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at 201 S. Michigan Street in Prairie du Chien beginning at 5 p.m.

Due to the coronavirus threat, the March Come for Supper was a drive in and pick-up event that went very well. Sandy Nagel, who helps organize the Come for Supper, said 234 meals were served last month.

Come for Supper has been happening for the past 11 years, but last month’s was the first time it was drive in and pick-up.

Nagel said there will be three men directing traffic for the Come for Supper on April 16. People should drive to the parking lot and car port on the west side of the church to pick up their meals which will be brought out to the car. Nagel said people should order a reasonable amount, which would be a maximum of about five meals per car.

The Come for Supper will last until all of the meals are gone. It is not known how many meals to prepare for or how many will be served, but when they’re gone, they’re gone. Different groups make the meals, which are free.

Nagel said the meals on April 16 will include grilled brats, potato salad, homemade baked beans and assorted desserts. The meals are all individually wrapped.

Nagel said the Come for Supper is provided as a community service. “We want to continue with the meals for those who need it,” she said.
