Dixie Ellen “Oma” Dudenbostel, 75, of Steuben, died Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz.

Dixie was born to Alvah Simeon Morphew and Carol Josephine Spear in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from American School. Dixie was united in marriage with Gerd Friedrich Dudenbostel on Feb. 22, 1959, at the Morphew’s home in Clarence, Iowa. In 1961, they moved near Steuben, where they farmed and lived until 2008, when they moved to Boscobel. They enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. Dixie was a member of the Eastman Wesleyan Church, where she played the organ and piano. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, teaching others crafts, making hats for the school in Arizona and making baby blankets. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dixie is survived by her six children, Martin (Vicki) Dudenbostel of Boscobel, Donald (Kim) Dudenbostel of Steuben, Willie Dudenbostel of Steuben, Sarah Bourff of Indianapolis, Ind., Nathan Dudenbostel of Woodman, and Wesley (Angela) Dudenbostel of Steuben; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Karlene Morphew Tyler of McPherson, Kan.; and several nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerd; parents, Alvah and Carol; brother, Wesley; two infant sons, Gerald and Gary; and two infant granddaughters, Lauralee and Mariah.

A private family funeral service will be held, with a Celebration of Life at a later date. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, of Prairie du Chien, is helping the family with arrangements.
