Lyneen Cheeseman Blate, of Elkader passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals on Feb. 21, 2020.

Per Lyneen’s wishes, private services will be held later this year.

Iowa Cremation of Cedar Rapids, was in charge of arrangements.

Lyneen was born Feb. 8, 1941, to Robert E. and LaVon (Kruse) Cheeseman. Lynn was a graduate of the Central Community High School class of 1958, she later earned her Masters degree and taught for many years for the Florida school system.

Lynn loved the country life and upon retirement returned to Elkader in 1998, with her late husband, Larry, they enjoyed the many animals and the wild life that took up residence on their farm. She especially loved sharing her array of horses, dogs, cats and burrows with all who visited. Lynn was a beautiful quilter, making quilts and wall hangings for family and friends. She loved gardening, often starting many plants in her four seasons room. She loved sharing those plants with others. Lynn was an excellent cook and baker, many wonderful meals were had around her table with several games of 500 following. In her early years of retirement Lynn was part of the deer hunting group which included her sons, grandsons and neighbors. She was an excellent shot and always got her deer. She had many wonderful memories of fishing throughout the years. Her last day out on the Mississippi was September of 2019. She caught the biggest, the smallest and the Most!

Lyneen always had a positive, can do attitude that was contagious. These last few months she enjoyed and looked forward to the Bible study and prayers following breakfast.

Lyneen was especially proud of her children and grandchildren, all of which were able to recently visit.

Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Alan Glenn (Lora), and their three children, Joshua (South Korea), Kristina (Chile), and James (May) (Saipan) and their two daughters, Hanalei and Katana. Her son, Dale Glenn of Rockwell, and son Todd (Alida) Lutz, Fla. and children, Jaclyn, Matthew and Alyssa.

Lyneen was preceded in death by her parents; husband and two rainbow babies.

Online condolences may be directed to the family at www.iowacremation.com under Obituaries.
