Loren L. Lane, 75, of Mt. Hope, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, at his home.  

He was born on April 30, 1944, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Thomas and Dorothy (Palmer) Lane. Loren attended Lane Country School, two years at Patch Grove High School, and graduated from West Grant High School. He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin Farm and Industry Short Course in the Dairy Herd Improvement Milk Testing Program. Loren was employed with the Grant County DHIA and performed standard milk testing for area dairy farmers with registered and grade cattle. 

On May 2, 1964, he was united in marriage to Barbara A. Bark at the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. Together, they farmed in Little Grant Township on the Bark family farm that was purchased in the early 1800s. Loren served on the Little Grant Township Board, and taught hunter safety to youth for over 40 years. He was a project leader of the Mt. Hope Cardinals 4-H Club, and for 20 years was the 4-H shooting sports adviser. Loren enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. He was a member of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include his loving wife, Barb; a son, Keith; a daughter, Laurie; four grandchildren: Brian (Breanna) Patterson, Amanda (Holden) Cauffman, Andrea (fiancé Adam Keenan) Patterson, Amber Patterson; one great-granddaughter, Everly Cauffman; a brother, Roger (Gloria) Lane; a sister-in-law, Beverly Lane; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Loren was preceded in death by a brother, Julian; a sister, Beverly (Gene) Larson; and a nephew, Bill.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Lance Wetter officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be made to Grant County 4-H Shooting Sports.
