Pickup and trailer jackknife
On Jan. 18, at 6:12 p.m., Crawford County dispatch received a report of a pickup and livestock trailer that had jackknifed on Highway 27 and Limery Road in Prairie du Chien Township.
Lowell L. Kapinus, 56, Prairie du Chien, was operating a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup, pulling an empty 1985 Featherlite livestock trailer northbound on Highway 27. The truck and trailer slid completely across the southbound lane of traffic, then off the roadway where they jackknifed. Strong winds and the ice-covered roadway were both contributing factors to the crash.
Kapinus was wearing his seat belt and there were no injuries. The pickup sustained severe damage and the trailer minor damage. Assisting on scene was Milo’s Towing.
