Methamphetamine found in vehicle
On Jan. 14, at 8:40 p.m., a deputy from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a 1998 Buick Century on Sunbeam Boulevard in the village of Soldiers Grove.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Kaitlyn Fitzgerald, 32, of Platteville, and the front passenger as Jamie Boyland, 37, of Platteville. It was discovered that the license plates on the vehicle were suspended. There was no insurance on the vehicle and both Fitzgerald and Boyland did not have valid driver’s licenses.
During the course of the traffic stop, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit arrived and deployed K9 Myk around the exterior of the vehicle. K9 Myk alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded a bag containing methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia.
Charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia have been referred to the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office on both individuals.
