Members of the Prairie du Chien wrestling team pose with their first-place trophy after winning the Cramer/Brown Duals hosted by Janesville Parker. In the championship match, the Blackhawks defeated the #5 ranked Random Lake team by a score of 41-29.

Matt Rogge works over his Random Lake opponent with an arm bar in the 138# weight class. Rogge would record a technical fall with a 16-0 win in the second period.

Tyler Hannah puts the hurt on his Janesville Parker opponent with a tight headlock in the 195# weight class. Hannah would pin his opponent in the second period.

 

On Saturday, Dec. 7, the PdC Blackhawks traveled to Janesville Parker for the Cramer/Brown Duals. The Duals are an eight-team event, with the first three rounds being pooled before separating into championship and consolation brackets. 

In the opening round, PdC would take down Monroe by a score of 58-15. The Hawks took advantage of six falls and one major decision. In round two, PdC would battle with host Janesville Parker, and come out on top 48-30. The Hawks had four falls, one technical fall, and a major decision. 

In Round 3, the Hawks would dismantle Racine Horlick 70-0 with a couple of falls and a couple of technical falls while moving on to the championship bracket. 

In that bracket, PdC would match up with Edgerton first. The Hawks were victorious 58-18. The Hawks would get seven falls along with a major decision. This moved the Hawks into the championship match against the #5 ranked team in D3, Random Lake. 

In an exciting match between two squads that featured eight returning state qualifiers, four of them returning state place winners, the Blackhawks were able to come out on top with a 41-29 victory. Leading the way for the Hawks on a great day of team wrestling were Rhett Koenig, Luke Kramer, Matt Rogge, Bradyn Saint, and Tyler Hannah, all winning five matches on the day. Every wrestler in the lineup won at least one match. The wins move the Hawks to 6-0 on the young season. 

The next action for the Hawks will be the Devil Duals, hosted by Adams-Friendship, and wrestled in the Dome at Wisconsin Dells on Saturday, Dec. 14. Grappling begins at 8 a.m. Go Hawks!
