Santa Claus himself will make a special visit to Ferryville’s Christmas Tree Lighting celebration Dec. 2, to meet with the good girls and boys and give them treats. (Submitted photo)

On Monday, Dec. 2, in Ferryville, the ninth annual Christmas Tree Lighting will happen and everyone is invited. Santa hears children’s Christmas wishes and all sing Christmas carols and enjoy treats as the lights of the holiday season are lit. The event takes place at the observation deck of River View Park in the center of the village of Ferryville.

Santa will arrive at 5:30 p.m. to hear what children want for Christmas and, then, at 6 p.m., the elves will light the Christmas tree for the season. The Ferryville Tourism Council will lead everyone in Christmas carols while all can enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and have holiday cookies and treats. Plus, there are gift bags for children. This is a fun time for all so don’t miss out.

Ferryville Tourism Council hosts this event each year. The holiday tree is selected by village “elves” who trek out to Hillcrest Orchards and Christmas Tree Farm on Hwy. 61 in Gays Mills to get “just the right tree.” Next comes the decorating and lights so everything is ready for the Dec. 2, big moment when the lights officially come on and stay on for the season. Don’t miss out. Dress warm and be ready for a really good time.
