A big football game looms for Prairie du Chien Friday night as the Blackhawks, a number 2 seed, will square off against number 1-seeded Lake Country Lutheran in a neutral site game in McFarland.

The stakes are high because the winner of the Division 5, Level 4 playoff game will earn a trip to the State Championship game in Camp Randall Stadium in Madison on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m.

Prairie du Chien is now 11-1 on the season and finished second in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference with a 6-1 mark. Prairie beat seventh-seeded New Glarus-Monticello 35-14 on Oct. 25 in the first round of the playoffs. They then defeated sixth-seeded Arcadia 28-14 on Nov. 1. On Nov. 8, the Blackhawks traveled to Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau and blanked the Redhawks 10-0.

Lake Country Lutheran of Hartland, Wis., has a record of 11-1 on the season and won the Midwest Classic Conference with a 6-0 record. The Lightning defeated eighth-seeded Brookfield Academy 42-0 in the first round. They then just got past fifth-seeded Lomira 13-6 in overtime. On Nov. 8, in their Level 3 contest, Lake Country Lutheran defeated second-seeded Racine St. Catherine’s 28-6.

The Level 4 match-up in McFarland Friday night should prove to be an entertaining and exciting affair for Prairie du Chien and their enthusiastic fans. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Lake Country Lutheran averages 37 points per game. They have accumulated 1,090 yards passing this season with 18 touchdowns, and 2,561 yards rushing with 37 TDs. 

Prairie du Chien averages 27.9 points per contest. The Blackhawks have 1,725 yards passing with 16 TDs. They have 2,060 yards rushing with 29 touchdowns.
