The public is invited to honor military veterans of all eras and branches on Monday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Clayton Ridge High School gym in Guttenberg.

The program will open with a color guard  made up of members of the local American Legion, Amvets and VFW posts. Clay-Gar American Legion Post of Garnavillo will present a POW/MIA ceremony. The pledge of allegiance will be led by the VFW Patriot's Pen essay contest winners.

Patriotic music will be provided by a community band made up of Guttenberg German Band members, community musicians and high school students, as well as the Clayton Ridge High School vocal department. Cheryl Urbalejo will narrate "Duty, Honor, Country."

The band will present a musical salute to all branches of the armed forces, followed by the presentation of Quilts of Valor by Rosalie Kickbush, Joyce Kopecky and other volunteers.

Steve Dikkers and Bruce Bryant will present special music. Rosalie Kickbush will read the list of veterans who have died during the past year, followed by "Taps" by community band trumpeters.

Flags will be presented to Boys and Girls State representatives by Legion Commander Frank Davis, Clay-Gar Legion Commander Larry Moser, and Pauline Reick, Clay-Gar Auxiliary member and representatives from Peoples State Bank and Fidelity Bank.

The band will play Battle Hymn of the Republic with Mrs. Keehner, Mr. Radcliffe and Mrs. Fassbinder as vocalists. The program will conclude with the national anthem directed by Adam Radcliffe and the retiring of colors.
