Operation Santa for Crawford County residents will be offered again for the 2019 season, sponsored by the Prairie du Chien Rotary Club.

Families in need should sign up between Nov. 1 and Nov. 30 at Couleecap in Prairie du Chien or at the village office in Gays Mills. Distribution will be Friday, Dec. 13, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Hoffman Hall in Prairie du Chien.

All who sign up will receive a holiday meal for up to six people, including ham, potatoes, butter, milk, bread, pie, oranges, apples and canned goods. Children under 10 will receive toys and those ages 10-18 will get local Chamber Bucks. Depending upon sign-up and donated funds available, other items may be given, like hats, mittens and gloves; laundry soap, dish soap, paper towels and toilet paper; shampoo, conditioner and body wash; toothpaste, toothbrushes and floss; new pillowcases; gently used and cleaned coats; and potentially a gift card to a local grocery store. None of these items are guaranteed but may be part of the Operation Santa gifting program.

The Rotary Club invites Crawford County businesses, organizations and individuals to participate in Operation Santa by placing a donation box at your place of business, collecting donations among staff and/or considering a monetary donation toward the cost of fresh food items, toys or Chamber dollars.

If you need a Rotary member to drop off a donation box, please contact the club as soon as possible at pdcrotary@gmail.com or (608) 380-1392.

The goal is for display boxes to be set up starting Nov. 1, and left out until the club picks them up, as early as Dec. 1. Businesses are asked to call or email for box pick-up prior to the Dec. 13 family distribution date.

Last holiday season, over 100 families in need across the county were assisted.
