Municipal and school elections set for Tuesday, Nov. 5

Clayton County voters will head to the polls next Tuesday, Nov. 5, to choose city and school leaders.

Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Voters must vote in their precinct of residence.

Following is a summary of candidates in The Press readership area.

MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

City of Guttenberg: Three candidates are running for two seats on the Guttenberg city council: Austin Greve, Jane Parker and Dennis Roth. Greve and Parker are incumbents.

Three incumbents are on the ballot for three seats on the hospital board of trustees: Bill Allyn, Karen Merrick and Janice Andregg.

Polling location is the Guttenberg Municipal Building, 502 First Street, Guttenberg.

City of Garnavillo: Rick Meisner is the lone candidate for mayor. No candidates filed for two open council seats.

Polling site is the Garnavillo Community Building, 106 W. Niagara St., Garnavillo.

City of Clayton: Max Basemann is the lone candidate for mayor. There are five candidates for five seats on the city council: Anita Grunder, Kimberly Kuehl, Chris Youngblut, Cathy Staake and Jon Russett.

Polling site is the Garnavillo Community Building, 106 W. Niagara St., Garnavillo.

City of Elkport: No candidates filed for the mayor's position or three seats on the city council.

Polling location is the Elkport-Garber Community Center, 120 Main Street, Elkport

City of Garber: Nioka Schroeder is running for mayor. There are five candidates for five city council positions: Ed VanLennep, R. Lyle Schroeder, Hermie Schroeder, Leroy Dugan and Alicia Van Lennep. 

Polling location is the Elkport-Garber Community Center, 120 Main Street, Elkport.

City of Osterdock: No candidates filed for the mayor's position or for five city council positions. 

Polling location is the Guttenberg Municipal Building, 502 First Street, Guttenberg.

City of North Buena Vista: No candidates filed for the mayor's position or for five seats on the city council.

Polling site is the Immaculate Conception Parish Hall, Walnut Street, North Buena Vista.

City of Edgewood: James Stone is the lone candidate for mayor. Brad Perrinjaquet and Bruce Hemann are seeking two seats on the city council.

Polling site is the Strawberry Point Civic Center, 401 Commercial Street, Strawberry Point.

SCHOOL BOARD

Clayton Ridge School District: There are five candidates for four seats on the board: Alicia Helle, Christine Aulwes, Ellen Spensley Johnson, John J. Heying and Dennis Roth.

Edgewood Colesburg School District: Jeff Hoeger and Tammy Kirby are running for two open positions.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Incumbent Ken Reimer is seeking a seat to represent District 5 on the Northeast Iowa Community College board of directors. District 5 includes the school districts of Clayton Ridge, Edgewood-Colesburg, Central, and Maquoketa Valley and MFL MarMac.
