Winter parking restrictions begin Nov. 1

With winter approaching, residents in Marquette and McGregor are reminded that winter parking restrictions will go into effect beginning Nov. 1, and continue through March 31. 

In Marquette, parking is prohibited between 2 and 8 a.m. as follows:

• North Street - Park on the north side of the street (even numbered address) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, and park on the south side of the street (odd numbered address) on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings.

• Second Street - Park on the east side of the street (even numbered address) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, and park on the west side of the street (odd numbered address) on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings.

City parking lots are available on a first come, first serve basis and located under the Marquette-Joliet Bridge and on Edgar Street.

In McGregor, parking is prohibited as follows:

• Garnavillo Avenue

• Main Street between 2 and 8 a.m. - Park on the north side of the street (even numbered address) on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, and park on the south side of the street (odd numbered address) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.

• A Street (between Main and Ann streets) - Park on the east side of the street (even numbered address) on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, and park on the west side of the street (odd numbered address) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.

• Triangle Park (A/Dr. Smith and First streets) - for a period of 48 hours after cessation of receiving two inches of snow.

• Fourth Street (between Main and Ann streets) - for a period of 48 hours after cessation of receiving two inches of snow.

• Snow emergency - Parking is prohibited on all city streets immediately upon declaration and will continue for 48 hours after cessation of a winter storm. A snow emergency declaration will be published online and through local media.

City parking lots are available on a first come, first serve basis and located on Front Street (24-hour limit), First Street (72-hour limit), the corner of Main and B streets (24-hour limit) and immediately east of the Silver Dollar on Main Street (24-hour limit).

Violating a winter parking restriction in either community may result in a fine, vehicle impoundment and/or both.
