The Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce has gone live with a revamped website, and the organization is taking the lead on bringing Junior Achievement to the local school system.

According to Bob Moses, chamber president and CEO, the website features a new video focus and more emphasis on its businesses.

“We will tie in videos to a monthly spotlight for two businesses each month,” Moses said, noting that the chamber would like to incorporate podcasts next year as well. “I encourage people to log on and check out our new site.”

Also leaning toward modern trends, the chamber is collaborating with the Prairie du Chien Area School District to bring Junior Achievement to grades 7 and 8 at Bluff View Intermediate School.

“We’ve never had Junior Achievement on this side of the state. We want to support and encourage our youth,” Moses said. “We are seeking business volunteers who want to go into the school and work with these students.”

Several Prairie du Chien businesses donated a total of $4,000 to startup the program here.

Moses explained that the chamber has enjoyed its collaborations with the school district over the years. Other programs they’ve worked in partnership for have included the Heavy Metal Bus Tour in early October, Reality Check, luncheons for new teachers and the upcoming Shop for Schools promotion Oct. 18-19.
