Prairie du Chien District Administrator heading to Dodgeville School District

Robert Smudde

Prairie du Chien School District Administrator Robert Smudde has resigned and his last day serving the district will be Friday, Sept. 13.

Smudde said he will be the new Director of Pupil Services and School Psychologist for the Dodgeville School District.

Smudde has been the District Administrator at Prairie du Chien for the past two years, and was entering his third year.

“Prairie du Chien is a wonderful school district, just not for me as the constant media exposure and various other issues that have come up have caused me to doubt why I became a district administrator,” said Smudde. “I am grateful for my time here.”

Prairie du Chien School Board President Lonnie Achenbach said the school district contacted the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, which gave the district the names of four candidates to replace Smudde.

“We have four candidates whom we hope to interview next week,” said Achenbach, who noted the district hopes to hire a new district administrator soon.
